Why should I aerate my lawn?

In order to grow a healthy lawn, the roots need to get air, water and nutrients. This helps the roots grow deep and strong. Over time soil becomes compacted and won’t allow your lawn to grow thick and healthy. One example of a compacted lawn is standing water instead it it draining properly into the ground. Compacted soil also causes the lawn to struggle in stressful situations, such as heat and low rainfall. The lawn gradually thins and eventually dies out completely, for lack of the oxygen, water and nutrients available just inches away. Your lawn can benefit greatly from just a single aeration and over-seeding service!

WHEN SHOULD I AERATE MY LAWN

Its best to aerate during or right before the time your grasses reach their peak time for natural growth. Aeration is good for lawns, but it can stress grass if timed improperly. Never aerate dormant lawns. For Northern lawns, we recommend aeration during early spring or early fall when it coincides with active growth, grasses recover quickly and fill in areas where aerator equipment exposes soil.

How does Earthworkers aerate lawns?

We use a core aerator and go over the lawn in two directions. This removes a 3”-4” long plug and the plug lays on the turf. Over time the plug breaks down and further provides nutrients and organic matter to the lawn surface. We also use a high quality seed mix with a starter fertilizer and spread it at the proper ratio for the best possible results.
